GMAT Competition Offers an MBA Stimulus Package to Five Winners
Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) May 26, 2009 -- There is no question that business school applicants are facing unprecedented challenges this year. The faltering global economy has created a record surge of applicants to business schools, consequently driving up competition for limited seats at the top MBA programs.
However for at least five people, the path to business school has become a little easier. Today, Beat The GMAT announced five winners for its annual Beat The GMAT Scholarship competition (http://www.beatthegmat.com/scholarship.html), co-sponsored by Manhattan GMAT and Stacy Blackman Consulting. The Beat The GMAT Scholarship competition is one of the word's largest pre-MBA scholarship programs, and this year over $14K in prizes were available to five people.
Here's a rundown of the 2009 Beat The GMAT Scholarship winners:
First Prize - Ganesh Kumar - Originally from Bangalore, India, and currently a US graduate student studying financial engineering.
Second Prize - Emmanuel Situma - Born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, now working in finance in Minnesota.
Third Prize - Bernard Von Gizycki - Originally from Cyprus, now working as a consultant in New York.
Fourth Prize - Shelby Morrison - An office manager and the first from her family to graduate college. Currently living in Massachusetts.
Fifth Prize - Wittaya Reanchaipitak - A systems analyst currently living in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Beat The GMAT Scholarship Committee received nearly 140 applications this year. "The quality of the applications was astounding," said Eric Bahn, Founder of Beat The GMAT. "We had a very difficult time narrowing down to just five winners."
"So many applicants this year shared incredible personal journeys with us. The winners we selected will no doubt add much to the MBA programs they attend in the future," said Stacy Blackman, Founder and President of Stacy Blackman Consulting.
"We know that the economy is putting a major financial strain on applicants in the early phases of their MBA admissions process," said Andrew Yang, CEO of Manhattan GMAT. "We're happy that we can help these talented individuals through the Beat The GMAT Scholarship program."
The Beat The GMAT Scholarship competition occurs annually in the spring. To qualify for the competition, applicants must have completed college, or be in their final year of college. More information about the program can be found at: http://www.beatthegmat.com/scholarship.html
